Dennis Bennie is a pioneer, entrepreneur and innovator in the Canadian technology industry. Over the past 20 years, Bennie's entrepreneurial management has powered Mission Electronics, Ingram Canada and Delrina.
In 1997, he founded the XDL Venture Capital Fund, focusing on information technology opportunities. The $25 million fund has yielded exceptional returns to date. One of its most noteworthy investments was a 1997 start-up, Delano Technology Corporation (NASD:DTEC). XDL Intervest, a $150 million fund was started in 1999 and is now fully invested. Bennie currently manages an experienced team investing in private equity opportunities as the XDL Capital Group.
From 1988 to 1996, Mr. Bennie was CEO of Delrina Corporation, an independent software developer and publisher, which forged the new software categories of electronic forms and PC fax communications. Under Mr. Bennie's leadership, Delrina pioneered the development of PC fax software called WinFax and became a world leader in the communication software market with annual sales revenue exceeding $130 million. Listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, Delrina cultivated a reputation for leadership, growth and profitability, and completed several public offerings. In November 1995, the company was successfully sold to Symantec Corporation for share consideration valued at $560 million.
Mr. Bennie entered the world of technology in 1979, when he co-founded Mission Electronics. He drove the expansion of this leading British audio equipment manufacturer to become a dominant force in the high-end stereo market. In 1982 he sold his interest in Mission Electronics and founded Aviva Software, an independent, mass-market software developer. Under his direction, the company expanded its scope to include software distribution and merged with Ingram Micro Inc. in 1986 to become Canada's largest software distributor.
Residing in Toronto, Canada, with his wife Laura and three daughters, Dennis is an avid golfer and runner. A member of the World President's Organization, he also regularly serves on various charitable boards including the Toronto Hospital Board.

Prior to joining XDL Capital in 1997 as a director and officer, Mr. Latner served as General Counsel of Delrina Corporation, the leading developer and publisher of electronic forms and communications software, and its spinoffs, SoftQuad Inc. and MGI Software Corp. during their rapid growth phases.
Before Delrina, David was in private legal practice, with a particular interest in computer law and financing transactions, was a contributing editor to several computer industry publications. Mr. Latner is a graduate of the University of Toronto, a member of the Computer Law Association, and is a former Fellow of the I.C.S.A.
Mr. Latner formerly ran the business and law section of the Canadian Film Centres Interactive Entertainment Training Program for new media, and was formerly an adjunct lecturer at the University of Waterloo Computer Science Department. He is a member of the advisory board of RT Communications, a digital health care communications agency, and a director of Ideaca Limited

Vernon Lun's interest lies in assisting companies in defining and executing their business vision using Internet and wireless technologies and infrastructure. His experience in both technology and business development areas puts him in a unique position of being able to define technology roadmaps as well as work closely with the executive team, investors and customers.
In 1994, Vernon joined Delrina Inc. As Principal Software Engineer, he was instrumental in moving their flagship Winfax to a 32-bit platform. He then joined Lanacom, a pioneer in Push technology, as Principal Developer and founding member in 1996. After Lanacom was acquired by BackWeb Technologies, His primary role as Chief Architect was to develop next-generation enterprise push-technology products. In 1999, he joined Balisoft Technologies as VP of Engineering responsible for all development of their eService CRM suite. Following their merger with Servicesoft, Vernon was promoted to Chief Technology Officer and worked closely with the business development group on assignments covering North America, Asia and Europe. In 2001, he took on the role of Chief Technology Officer at CompanyDNA where he had overall responsibility for research and development, IT and product management. Since joining XDL Capital Group in 2003, , Vernon has been involved in evaluating new business and assisting companies within its portfolio. Most recently, Vernon co-founded TheGoodBlogs, a Web 2.0 community to promote, discover and connect bloggers.
Vernon holds a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. In his Ph.D. thesis, he formulated a framework for distributed real-time intelligence. Early in his career, in the 1980s, he was involved in the design and management of large industrial and automation projects. Subsequently, he was been engaged as a consultant in areas including expert systems, computer-aided design systems, computer control of batch and continuous processes, software development, distributed computing and retail banking. He has also conducted postgraduate and industrial courses on expert systems and neural networks.

Tony van Marken has had a successful career as a high-tech entrepreneur, management consultant and venture capitalist. Mr. van Marken has been a General Partner of XDL Intervest since 1999 where he managed investments in the telecommunications, wireless and software industries. Prior to XDL, he was CEO of Architel Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:ASYC, TSE:ASY). Mr. van Marken helped establish Architel as a global leader in telecommunications software development. From 1994 through 1999, he helped Architel achieve a compound annual growth rate of 85 percent, while transforming the company into a leading supplier of Operational Support Systems (OSS) software products to telecommunications service providers worldwide. As president and CEO, he led Architel through its initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1996; fielded its successful expansion into the U.S., European and Asian markets; oversaw the acquisition of Accugraph Corporation and successfully completed a NASDAQ listing in 1998. Architel had annualised revenues of over $50 million (US) and more than 400 employees world-wide. Architel was listed by the Branham Group as the 13th largest independent software company in Canada prior to the sale of the company for $400 million (US) to Nortel on April 19, 2000.
Prior to Architel, Mr. van Marken worked for Andersen Consulting from 1988 through 1994, in South Africa and the United Kingdom, managing and implementing complex systems integration projects in a variety of industries, including government, transportation and telecommunications. Whilst in the United Kingdom, Mr. van Marken worked in Andersen Consulting's Telecommunications Industry Group where he was responsible for selling and implementing Billing and Operational Support Systems across Europe. In the earlier stages of his career, Mr. van Marken worked in software development. Mr. van Marken has acted as a director and advisor to numerous public and private venture backed, high technology companies in Canada, the United States and Europe. Recognized as a leader in his field, Mr. van Marken was honoured in 1998 as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 and was awarded the 1996 Canadian Venture Capital Associations Entrepreneur of the Year Award Mr. van Marken graduated with a B.Sc. (Computer Science) from the University of Cape Town and with a B.Comm. (Economics/Business Economics) from the University of South Africa.

Mr. van Marken is based in Cape Town, South Africa. He is currently Executive Chairman of DataPro Group Limited, South Africa’s leading alternative telecom operator (www.dataprogroup.co.za).
He is married with two sons and is an avid runner, cyclist,
mountaineer and skier. In June 2005 he completed his quest
to climb the world’s seven continental summits becoming the
first South African to complete this challenge. |

Zankowicz’s work with investors and financial analysts supported over $700 million in private placements, mergers, acquisitions, and public offerings on the TSX and the NASDAQ. In 1987, he co-founded and directed the Ontario Software Developers Association (now ITAC Ontario) and was also active with Washington-based Software Developers Association (now SIIA) during the early 1990s. He currently sits as a board member and or advisor with a number of Canadian start-ups.
Zankowicz holds a Bachelor of Science, Applied Math, from the University of Western Ontario, and undertook study in Architecture at the University of Toronto. He has written as a featured columnist and appeared in numerous print and TV interviews in Canada, US and Europe. He’s also credited with innovating the first digital camera pager and the USB thin-client computer.

Jonah Sigel has over 10 years experience as a deal maker and corporate counsel with significant experience in the technology sector, specifically, subscription and business to business based services, sports, entertainment and online media. He has worked as Director International Business Development and Corporate Counsel at AOL Canada where he played an integral role in the planning and launch of numerous web services as well as the company’s transition from an ISP model to a media sales/content driven business. Prior, Mr. Sigel served as attorney with several US law firms, corporate counsel with DoveBid, the world’s largest online and offline corporate auctioneer, and consultant to the Miami Heat Basketball Team and the Florida Panthers Hockey Team. A self-professed gadget geek, information sponge and sports fanatic Mr. Sigel received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
